Every new patient receives a comprehensive exam, which includes x-rays, a thorough check of your gums for gum disease, and oral cancer screenings to assess your current oral health. We search for any issues that may affect your overall health. Most importantly, we like to hear from you: your goals and your concerns.
Oral Cancer Screenings
Early detection of oral cancer is critical to determining the best plan for treatment. Major risk factors include alcohol and tobacco use, however even those who don’t drink or smoke can still develop oral cancer. We use visual and manual screening methods to check your entire mouth, cheeks, and gums for a sign of abnormalities.
Our digital x-rays deliver sharp, high-definition images that help us see what’s really going on. Our hygienists share digital copies with you, so you can clearly see what areas may have issues. We also use DIAGNOdent technology, a fluorescent laser which helps find cavities before they show up on x-rays. This way, we can get to them before they destroy your tooth.
A healthy hygiene routine is essential to keeping your mouth looking and feeling great. Our hygienists deep clean your mouth, removing plaque and tartar buildup. We use Cavitron ultrasonic scalers to really give you a professional clean. Your smile deserves the best, so visit our hygienists regularly.
Taking care of your gums is essential to preventing periodontal disease. Gum disease is the main culprit behind adult tooth loss. We focus on preventing gum disease before it strikes, fighting plaque buildup at the gum line. Where necessary, we use ARESTIN® to stop infection, or Peridex rinse to eliminate bacteria responsible for gingivitis and other infections.
Topical fluoride treatments are an easy way to restore minerals to the enamel of your teeth, which can aid in the prevention of decay. If you experience painful sensitivity to hot or cold temperatures, fluoride can help lessen the discomfort. At K Dental, we provide fluoride treatments to both adults and children at every visit.
If you’re a nighttime grinder, mouthguards can help protect your teeth from damage and extensive wear. We craft custom-fitted guards that are easy to wear and comfortable. We ensure a perfect fit every time. Our mouthguards are great for athletes too!
We take your comfort seriously. If any of our dental treatments make you nervous, we offer nitrous oxide gas to help you stay calm and feel relaxed. The sedation is mild, and wears off quickly once the gas is turned off. We also offer oral sedation (Valium) when necessary.
Not getting enough oxygen while you sleep is scary. Sleep apnea is a common disorder, and unfortunately many sufferers never get the treatment they need. At K Dental, we can help you get a better night’s sleep. Check out our sleep apnea page for more information.
Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJ) can lead to painful, restless nights, headaches, neck pain, and other discomforts. Dr. K uses methods taught by Las Vegas Institute and The Center for Occlusal Studies to help diagnose and treat TMJ symptoms. We focus on the neuromuscular aspect of TMJ, and utilize a TENS machine to help relax your muscles, which alleviates pain and helps us find your natural bite and will help us treat your particular jaw.
We understand that sometimes you just need to be seen. In the case of a dental emergency, we strive to get you into our office the very same day you call. We understand dental emergencies don’t happen when it’s convenient, and we’ll do everything we can to get you back to normal as soon as possible.
Our office uses the latest technology to deliver high quality dental care. Our computerized treatment rooms allow us to fully collaborate with you, discussing your health and treatment in privacy and comfort. Additionally, our intraoral cameras allow you to see exactly what Dr. K sees, giving you a better understanding of what is happening inside your mouth. Cold sores and lesions are treated with soft tissue laser, which also allows us to perform comfortable frenectomies.
